PeterStar Connecting Traffic Lights in Novgorod to the Internet

06.02.2010

PeterStar, a leader of the market of telecommunication services in the Northwest Region, being part of the Synterra Group of Companies, is arranging the connection of traffic lights to the city system of automatic road traffic control (ASUDD) in Veliky Novgorod via the Internet.

This work is carried out within the framework of the “Secure City” departmental program that is being implemented by the Administration of Veliky Novgorod.

To date the first stage of the project has been completed: traffic lights are connected to the Internet over the existing PeterStar infrastructure. In the near future, this will allow automatic traffic lights control via the ASUDD system in order to optimize road traffic organization.

In 2010 a pilot operation is planned of the traffic lights control system. The rebuilt traffic lights are expected to be put into regular operation in 2011.

It will be recalled that this is not the first PeterStar’s experience in the “Secure City” program implementation. Last year PeterStar delivered to Murmansk equipment for the system of “Citizen – Militia” emergency communication posts.
